Perhaps ziplining has always been on your list of adventure goals. Maybe you’re looking for a new thrill to share with your buddies. You may even be approaching retirement but not quite ready for that rocking chair. Ziplining is a terrific way to get the adrenaline going and in creating lifelong bonds and memories.
If this is the year you’ll be trying ziplining for the first time, we want to help you have a truly extraordinary experience. Here are 5 tips for first time zipliners.
1. Trust Your Guides and the Equipment
At Forever Florida, our zipline guides are highly-trained and our equipment secure. The safety of our guests is our primary concern. We use dual lines to keep guests safer, straighter, and more under control. We make a point of this to ensure you maximize the fun you have when ziplining. This is important to us and contributes to your full enjoyment of your time here. We suggest first-timers arrive with anticipation and excitement but leave their fears at home. Look forward to your adventure and soak it in. Enjoy the views and enjoy the flight from start to finish! Feel free to laugh, scream or yell!
2. Wear Appropriate Clothing and Footwear
Remember, you may be on vacation while visiting Forever Florida but you should be dressing for ziplining. Our adventures can involve climbing, walking, and wearing a secure harness. You want shoes that will be comfortable and that will stay on your feet. Sandals are great for the beaches but do not work well for ziplining. Wear closed-toed shoes that will stay firmly attached to your feet.
Keep in mind, the harness you will be wearing extends over your shoulders, across your back, down inside your upper thighs and across your chest. Wear shorts that are long enough and comfortable lightweight tops. You will be provided a helmet so wearing hats while ziplining is unnecessary.
3. Make Reservations Ahead of Time
Forever Florida’s beautiful, remote location makes it perfect for ziplining but you don’t want to make the drive only to discover we are already booked up or have a large group event scheduled. Contact us to make reservations ahead of time and secure your flight time. This helps assure your adventure will take place as planned.
You should also keep in mind that the safety of our guests is always a primary concern, so high winds and or lightning could impact your visit. For those traveling to the Sunshine State, you should know that during summer afternoons, thunderstorms can be frequent but they usually are quick to pass. It is not unusual for visitors to experience sunshine, a thundershower, and sunshine again within the same hour. Don’t be discouraged by an afternoon forecast that may have showers in the forecast.
4. Prepare for Sun and Bugs
You are visiting the heart of Florida’s ecosystem when ziplining at Forever Florida. This means you will likely encounter insects and be exposed to lots of sunshine. Just like you would at home, prepare for outdoor activity here by bringing insect repellent and sunscreen. This simple step can help you better enjoy your first ziplining experience.
5. Explore all of your Options
One of the best ways to maximize your first ziplining experience is to explore all of your options. Forever Florida offers a Zipcoaster, racing ziplines, and the Panther Pounce, where visitors step off a 68-foot high platform into a controlled free-fall to the ground below. If you are going to take an adventure, take it for all it’s worth at Forever Florida!
At Forever Florida, our mission is to preserve and protect the fragile ecosystems of Florida’s native wilderness, to provide a permanent protective habitat for wildlife, to maintain the historical ranching operation, and to educate the public about the importance of conservation and the preservation of our unique ranching heritage.
